Ian has over 30 years of direct leadership, consulting and people development experience, delivering bottom line benefits across a broad spectrum of business sectors and across global locations. He spent his formative years as production leader and the first UK continuous improvement leader for a Japanese tier-1 automotive supplier before joining Forward Vision in 1998. There he delivered a number of highly successful operations improvement and leadership development projects the success of which was recognised in 2004 with the winning of a National Training Award.
Ian then took on the role of Operations Director at a precision engineering business and spent two and half years leading operational change within a highly competitive sub-contract marketplace. Ian returned to consulting in 2009 setting up Deerness Consulting, and has since led and delivered a number of high profile projects within the financial services sector as well as leading the design and delivery of a countrywide continuous improvement programme for the distribution arm of a major international retail business.
Whilst leading projects, he combines a drive to succeed with a collaborative approach and inclusive engaging style, being particularly keen to share his in-depth practical experience throughout. He has genuine understanding of the challenges faced by people at all levels and uses this experience to effectively support individual and business goal achievement.
Ian remains committed to the development of people and the raising of skill levels to support productivity and economic development, holding a longstanding Non-Executive Director (Chair) position at Sunderland Engineering Training Association.
